HOW I WORK
(and what is a "fine art lifestyle photographer," anyway?!)
There are three questions I ask myself every time I create an image:
Is it authentic?
Is it heartfelt?
Is it timeless?
I am forever seeking that elusive, perfect balance of beauty and truth. Art and honesty. To that end, I take a hybrid approach to my work. When I shoot, I embrace the spontaneity and genuine emotion of a lifestyle photographer. And when I edit, I do so with a fine artist's loving attention to detail. The goal, always, is to create beautiful images that will stand the test of time.
WHO I AM
First and foremost, I'm a Montana girl.
This beautiful state my family and I are blessed to call home is a huge part of who I am. I was raised here, I’m raising my kids here, and it’s probably a huge part of why I became a photographer in the first place. I wouldn’t want to live or work anywhere else!
I'm 39 years young, a mother to five amazing girls, who are MY HEART. Wife of 21 years to the most wonderful man on the planet (who also happens to be my biggest fan!) My family is at the core of everything I do, and my biggest inspiration.
I've worked as a professional photographer for about 16 years, specializing in families, weddings, seniors, model portfolios, and other portrait work; I have a special love for photographing children! I also am passionate about mentoring and learning with other photographers, so that has become a big part of my life and my work. I have been published in several trade magazines over the years, including Shutter Magazine, WorkStyle Magazine, Photo Technique Magazine, and JPG Magazine.
OTHER THINGS THAT INSPIRE ME:
Cold clear lakes, the smell of woodsmoke, sagebrush, horses, messy hair, baby laughter. Bare feet. Big skies. Great food. Long conversations. Books, movies, music, art, stories of all kinds...
AND YOU.
That's right. You inspire me. I know you have stories to tell, and I want to help you tell them.
